Your sled is an extension of your personality. That’s why Ski-Doo teamed up with SCS Unlimited to offer you unlimited creativity when it comes to personalizing your ride with a wrap. For a first-timer, wraps can look complex and intimidating to install. Now, some people are just gifted with a steady hand and a sharp eye. Some of us probably shouldn’t be left alone with a butter knife! Regardless of your experience installing a sled wrap, or where your dexterity registers, we’ve got tips from the fine folks over at SCS Unlimited to help make installation of your new snowmobile wrap easy.

Vinyl Quality and Industry Standards

At SCS Unlimited, we use premium, high-performance vinyl specifically engineered for the extreme conditions of powersports.

Premium Materials

Material

We utilize industry-standard, multi-layered vinyl (typically 21 mil thick including laminate) which is designed for conformability over complex curves.

Adhesive Technology

The vinyl features a high-tack, pressure-activated adhesive. This technology is the gold standard in the wrap industry because it allows for repositioning during install but creates a permanent bond once firm pressure and heat are applied.

Installation Videos

Note: The videos are created by end users. Installing vinyl is stylistic, and while many of these techniques can be performed by end users, the videos demonstrate just a few approaches. If you're unsure which method to use, contact your local wrap or sign experts for a professional install.

Adhesion Troubleshooting

Stickers are falling off or lifting overnight usually points to a surface energy issue rather than a defect in the adhesive.

Chemical Contamination

Even if you cleaned your machine with isopropyl alcohol, previous use of silicone-based cleaners (like Maxima SC1 or other "new bike in a can" sprays) can cause major issues.

  • The Problem: Silicone leaves behind a microscopic, high-slip film that alcohol cannot fully strip.
  • The Result: This creates a "non-stick" surface that prevents the high-tack adhesive from ever reaching the plastic, causing the vinyl to lift as it cools.
  • Pro Tip: If you suspect silicone use, a more aggressive degreaser or specialized surface prep may be required before the final alcohol wipe.
  • Installation Temperature

For the adhesive to set properly, both the shop and the machine's surface need to be at room temperature (ideally 65°F–75°F). If the plastic was cold during the install, or if the shop temperature dropped significantly overnight, the adhesive may not have reached its full chemical bond strength.
